Consumer Quality & Certification Marks

ISI and BIS Standard Mark
- Indicates conformity to the applicable Indian Standard under BIS certification.
- ISI is itself a BIS Standard Mark; the two descriptions overlap.
- Check the standard number, licence and the product covered by the certification.

Hallmark
- Certifies fineness or purity of precious-metal articles under the scheme.
- Purity is different from the ornament’s design, making charge or resale price.
- Verification details depend on the applicable metal and hallmarking scheme.

Ecomark
- The 2024 Ecomark Rules replaced the 1991 scheme.
- Eligible products must meet notified environmental criteria.
- CPCB implements the scheme in partnership with BIS.

Read the scope of the claim
- Standard conformity, precious-metal purity and environmental criteria are different checks.
- No mark automatically guarantees the lowest price or superiority for every use.
- Environmental certification does not mean zero environmental impact.

- योजना के अंतर्गत कीमती धातु की वस्तुओं का खरापन या शुद्धता प्रमाणित करता है।
- शुद्धता, आभूषण की बनावट, बनवाई के शुल्क और पुनर्विक्रय मूल्य से अलग है।
- सत्यापन के विवरण संबंधित धातु और लागू हॉलमार्किंग योजना पर निर्भर करते हैं।

- इकोमार्क नियम, 2024 ने 1991 की योजना का स्थान लिया।
- पात्र उत्पादों को अधिसूचित पर्यावरणीय मानदंड पूरे करने होते हैं।
- CPCB, BIS की भागीदारी में इस योजना को लागू करता है।

दावे का दायरा समझें
- मानक अनुरूपता, धातु की शुद्धता और पर्यावरणीय मानदंड अलग-अलग जाँच हैं।
- कोई चिह्न स्वतः सबसे कम मूल्य या हर उपयोग में श्रेष्ठता की गारंटी नहीं देता।
- पर्यावरणीय प्रमाणन का अर्थ शून्य पर्यावरणीय प्रभाव नहीं है।
